Calling U.S. Republican President Donald Trump “a badass,” Congressman Mark Green said Sunday he approved of the operation that resulted in the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
Green, a Republican, represents Tennessee’s Seventh Congressional District.
On Twitter, Green described al-Baghdadi as “a beheader of Christians, rapist of women and enslaver of women; he was worse than a dog.”
On Facebook, Green thanked the American forces involved in holding al-Baghdadi accountable. Green also thanked communities like his hometown of Clarksville who “support these brave men and women as they keep America safe.”
Green elaborated during an appearance on FOX News Sunday.
“These guys. This is their life. They accept this. Their families accept this. We also have to think about those folks sitting at home watching the news. The stress that is on those families can never forget that. But this is all just a part of work in this organization and these organizations that come together to do these kinds of missions,” said Green, who was involved in the raid 16 years ago that resulted in the capture of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein.
“This is what they do, and they are the best at it on the planet. In fact, no nation in history has ever been able to project power like this. I just commend them, and, of course, I commend the president. We got one badass president to make this kind of decision, and his statement this morning was awesome. It was awesome.”
Trump, speaking at the White House, described al-Baghdadi as “the world’s No. 1 terrorist.”
“Al-Baghdadi led the extremist organization known as the Islamic State, or ISIS. Trump said he died after running from a house into a dead-end tunnel while being chased by U.S. commandos in northwest Syria. Al-Baghdadi detonated a suicide vest that killed him and three of his children,” according to USA Today’s account of what Trump said.
“He died like a dog. He died like a coward. The world is now a much safer place,” USA Today quoted Trump as saying.
“He was a sick and depraved man, and now he’s gone.”

I am also a dog lover. I know Mark Green and I don’t think he intended to insult dogs although I agree it could be taken that way. But the real point is Mark Green had no reservation about calling it like it is ………We DO have a badass President !!
How does a dog die with dignity? He’s a dog not a human. And do humans really die with dignity? Courage maybe, faith yes, but dignity? Being an “Animal Lover” might explain being offended, but most so called animal lovers have very little dignity themselves. Sorry bengie, no offense.
I love dogs. My brother and sister-in-law have a Bichon Frise’ dog named Bengie. Their previous dog died like a dog with dignity. Do you hate dogs by comparing them to this slain ISIS member? Animal-lovers might not appreciate your remark. I know I don’t.
